## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WITNESS REPORTS THAT HE OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT IMPACT THE GROUND DURING AN ATTEMPTED LANDING. ON THE LANDING APPROACH, THE AIRCRAFT LEVELED AT ABOUT 50 FEET. THE AIRCRAFT THEN CLIMBED TO ABOUT 75 TO 100 FEET AND DESCENDED NOSE FIRST INTO THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED ON IMPACT AND CAME TO REST A SHORT DISTANCE FROM IMPACT. THE SOLE OCCUPANT PILOT REPORTED NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT PROPELLER, NOSE COWL AREA AND AIRCRAFT BOTTOM FUSELAGE AREA WERE DAMAGED. THERE ARE NO KNOWN CAUSAL FACTORS AT THIS TIME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05LA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05LA170), May 14, 2005: Diamond Aircraft Industries DA 20-C1 (N791MA), Glendale, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's misjudged landing flare that resulted in a stall and hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
