## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING LANDING ROLL AT ALLEGHENY COUNTY AIRPORT IN WEST MIFFLIN PENNSYLVANIA. POST INCIDENT INSPECTION OF THIS AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED DUE TO FAILURE OF ONE OF THE NOSE GEAR ACTUATOR DOWN-LOCK PINS (PART NUMBER 1280209-1). THE DOWN-LOCK PIN ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE ACTUATOR WAS FOUND TO BE CONTACTING THE NOSE GEAR ACTUATOR PISTON AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE ACTIONS OR INACTIONS OF THE PILOT DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THIS INCIDENT. SUBMISSION OF THIS REPORT CLOSES THIS INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD05IA066](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD05IA066), May 18, 2005: Cessna R182 (N6149S), West Mifflin, PA, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: The failure of the landing gear actuator downlock pin due to fatigue, which resulted in the nose landing gear collapsing on landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
