## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 19, 2005 AT 8:30 AM AVIAT HUSKY OWNED BY SOUTH DAKOTA DEPARTMENT OF GAME FISH & PARKS STRUCK THE GROUND WHILE MAKING A RUN DURING PREDATOR CONTROL OPERATIONS. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED, AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, AND THE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER WERE INJURED AND HOSPITALIZED OVER NIGHT. THE PILOT HOLDS A COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM BISON, SD THAT SAME MORNING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05CA117](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05CA117), May 19, 2005: Aviat A-1B (N102AM), Lodgepole, SD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The poor inflight planning and the pilot's inability to maintain control of the airplane. A factor associated with the accident was the low altitude at which the airplane encoutnered its own wake.

## Other reports on N102AM (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20171016020049I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20171016020049I), Oct 16, 2017: Aviat Aircraft Inc A-1B (N102AM), Chetek, WI, Minor damage. Aircraft nosed over on landing in attempt to avoid hitting unexpected wildlife running across runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
