## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) HELICOPTER WAS RESTING ON TRAILER, ATTACHED TO CHEVY SUBURBAN. THE PILOT/NEW OWNER DECIDED TO REMOVE HELO FROM TRAILER. AFTER STARTING HELO PILOT WAS LIFTING OFF TRAILER AND PLANNED TO MOVE LATERALLY TO THE RIGHT TO SET IT ON THE GROUND. HE DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE AFT PORTION OF THE R/H SKID HAD NOT CLEARED THE FENDERWELL OF THE TRAILER. THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO ROLL RIGHT AND THE PILOT CORRECTED WITH DOWN COLLECTIVE WHICH RESULTED IN HEAVY IMPACT ON THE L/H SKID. THIS IMPACT MAY HAVE CAUSED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE TAIL BOOM. AS THE PILOT BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT TO HOVER, THE TAIL BOOM DROPPED DOWN, PULLING THE SHORT SHAFT OUT OF THE TRANMSISSION, WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY CHANGED THE CENTER OF GRAVITY FORWARD. MAIN ROTOR BLADES CONTACTED CHEVY SUBURBAN AND THE GROUND TO QUICKLY FOR THE PILOT TO REACT. THE HELICOPTER CAME TO REST ON IT'S LEFT SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN05CA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN05CA078), May 19, 2005: Bell 47G-5A (N59403), Brush, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from the truck trailer during takeoff. A factor contributing to this accident was the truck trailer.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
