## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FEDERAL EXPRESS INC. FLIGHT 1630 ENROUTE TO INDIANAPOLIS DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO A LANDING GEAR PROBLEM. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND WAS TOWED TO THE GATE. PILOT DISCREPANCY STATED: THE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND ON SHORT FINAL. POSITION DETECTION WAS ON SYSTEM #2 NO EXTENSION WITH SYSTEM #1 ALSO. USED GRAVITY EXT. AND GOT 3 GREEN LIGHTS. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FOUND A SHORTED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR PINS ON THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR VALVE. THE SELECTOR VALVE WAS REPLACED AND THE LANDING GEAR FUNCTIONAL CHECK WAS NORMAL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
