## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 25, 2005, AT 21:11 LOCAL TIME, A PA-32-260, N4888S WAS ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 28 AT HAZLETON AIRPORT (HZL), HAZLETON, PA. THE PILOT STATED THAT WHEN HE TURNED ON THE LANDING LIGHTS, THE AMP METER WENT FULL SCALE AND CAUGHT FIRE. THE PILOT TURNED OFF POWER, PUT OUT THE FIRE TURNED ON ENOUGH EQUIPMENT TO LAND AND LANDED SAFELY. NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT EXCEPT FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PLASTIC COVER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
