## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT LANDED AIRCRAFT AT THE MANOKOTAK, AK VILLAGE AIRPORT, ABOUT 15 MILES WEST OF THE DILLINGHAM, AK VOR, WITH THE LANDING GEAR IN THE UP POSITION. HE ADMITTED TO AN FAA INSPECTOR, WHO WAS THERE AT THE TIME, THAT HE JUST FORGOT TO USE THE CHECK LIST TO VERIFY THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS DOWN. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD. NO INJURIES TO HIMSELF, BUT THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC05CA078](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC05CA078), May 26, 2005: Piper PA-31-310 (N65MR), Manokotak, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to extend the landing gear. A contributing factor was the pilot's failure to use the checklist.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
