## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS AIRCRAFT WAS IN CRUISE CONDITIONS CONDUCTING TRAINING ON THE USE OF THE LANDING GEAR. THE NOSE GEAR DID NOT SHOW A DOWN AND LOCKED (SAFE) CONDITION. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR CONTACTED MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL VIA RADIO. EVENTUALLY THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WAS ABLE TO GET THE NOSE GEAR TO SHOW A DOWN AND LOCKED CONDITION, HOWEVER THE NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT ALIGN WITH THE OTHER WHEELS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT DENTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (DTO) WITHOUT FURTHER DAMAGE. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE NOSE GEAR PARTS WERE MISALIGNED FROM AN EARLIER REBUILD OF THE NOSE GEAR SECTION. THIS WAS NOT AN ITEM THAT COULD HAVE BEEN SEEN DURING PREFLIGHT. THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY WILL BE REBUILT BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A MALFUNCTION AND DEFECT REPORT WILL BE SUBMITTED. THIS REPORT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
