## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT LANDED APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET PAST THE MIDPOINT OF RUNWAY 17 WITH 10 DEGREES OF FLAPS ACCORDING TO THE PILOT. THE AIRCRAFT THEN HYDROPLANED ON THE SLICK WET RUNWAY UNTIL IT RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, WENT THROUGH A BARBED WIRE FENCE AND IMPACTED A TREE. THIS RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE ADDITIONAL FACTORS WERE THAT THIS OCCURRED IN NEAR DARK CONDITIONS WITH OVERCAST SKIES WITH THE RECENT THUNDERSTORMS AND RAIN SHOWERS LEAVING THE DOWNHILL RUNWAY SOAKED WITH WATER. A HILL NORTH OF THE AIRPORT REQUIRES A STEEP APPROACH. THIS AIRPORT DOES NOT RECEIVE FUNDING AND THEREFORE AIRPORT CERTIFICATION IS NOT A FACTOR. THIS REPORT IS CLOSED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05LA141](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05LA141), May 29, 2005: Cessna R182 (N757ME), Roanoke, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of distance needed to land to a full stop resulting in an overrun. Contributing factors were the prevailing rain and the encounter with hydroplaning conditions.

## Other reports on N757ME (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19870228012749I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870228012749I), Feb 28, 1987: Cessna R182 (N757ME), Albuquerque, NM, Minor damage. Fuel was exhausted short of destination. Pilot had not planned on diverting around military operations area.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
