## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE EXECUTING THE VISUAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 34 THE PILOT LOST SIGHT OF THE PAPI LIGHTING SYSTEM AND PAINTED V BARS ON THE ABANDONED PORTION OF THE LANDING RUNWAY. REALIZING THE LANDING WOULD BE SHORT THE PILOT INCREASED POWER TO ABORT THE LANDING. WHILE ACCELERATING FOR THE ABORT THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A PVC PIPE PLACED IN THE CENTER OF THE ABANDONED PAVEMENT AS A SNOW PLOWING MARKER. THE LANDING WAS COMPLETED ON THE ACTIVE RUNWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. MAINTENANCE INSPECTION DISCLOSED MINOR DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
