## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT HAD AN EXTERNAL LOAD OF LUMBER ATTACHED TO THE AIRCRAFT BELLY. IT IS BELIEVED AT THIS TIME THAT THE WOOD CAUGHT FIRE WHILE IN FLIGHT. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON A GRAVEL BAR IN THE SKWENTNA RIVER AREA. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AND THE PILOT JUMPED OUT WHILE IT WAS ROLLING. THE AIRCRAFT HIT AN OBJECT AND ROLLED OVER IT'S NOSE, IT CONTINUED TO BURN UNTIL TOTALLY DESTROYED. THE PILOT HAD MADE RADIO CALLS PRIOR TO LANDING AND WAS HEARD BY A NEARBY PILOT. A HELICOPTER WAS IN THE VICINITY AND WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE SUPPORT BY RESCUING THE PILOT. IT IS SAID THAT THE PILOT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL BURNS AND A SEVERE KNEE INJURY.
