## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ^PRIVACY DATA^ THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF N15151, A PA-28 AIRCRAFT, WHILE APPROACHING TO LAND AT THE ABRAHAM LINCOLN CAPITAL AIRPORT IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS, REPORTED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER TO THE SPI ATC FACILITY. HE SUBSEQUENTLY DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AS HE WAS UNABLE TO SUSTAIN ENOUGH POWER TO MAINTAIN LEVEL FLIGHT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON RUNWAY 13 AT THE SPRINGFIELD AIRPORT AND WAS ABLE TO TAXI UNDER ITS OWN POWER TO THE RAMP AREA. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE AND A STATIC ENGINE RUNUP, COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ENGINE ROUGHNESS. FURTHER EVALUATION IS PENDING. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
