## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT ON ROLLOUT AFTER LANDING ON RUNWAY 23 A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND CAUSED HIM TO LOSE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND IN THE SOFT SAND THE LEFT GEAR COLLAPSED CAUSING THE LEFT WING TIP TO IMPACT TERRAIN. IT WAS REPORTED BY THE FBO MANAGER THAT THIS WAS THE PILOT'S SECOND ATTEMPT TO LAND. THE WINDS WERE REPORTED AT APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH, PREDOMINANTLY FROM THE SW BUT OCCASIONALLY SHIFTING OVER THE SE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA129](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA129), Jun 16, 2005: Luscombe 8E (N37GH), Orangeburg, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
