## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT HAD JUST BOUGHT THE AIRPLANE IN OREGON. FLEW IT TO RED BLUFF, CA FOR FUEL WHERE THEY FILLED THE TANKS. TAKEOFF, CLIMB, AND CRUISE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR ON THE LEFT MAIN TANK WHEN SHE SWITCHED TO THE AUX TANK. FLEW ON THAT TANK FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WHEN SHE SWITCHED BACK TO THE LEFT TANK WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER. TURNED ON ELECTRIC BOOST PUMP, SWITCHED BACK TO THE AUX TANK, ENGINE STILL SPUTTERING, LOSING ALTITUDE, THREW CONTROLS OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE SO COPILOT COULD FLY WHILE SHE BEGAN PUMPING THE WOBBLE PUMP, ENGINE FINALLY QUIT. LANDED ON THE 134 FWY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05LA208](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05LA208), Jun 18, 2005: Beech C35 (N5813C), Pasadena, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: a fuel starvation induced loss of engine power due a failure of the electric fuel pump. A factor in the accident was the dark night lighting conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
