## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON A VFR FLIGHT FROM LORIS, SC (5J9) TO COLUMBUS COUNTY NC AIRPORT (CPC) TO OBTAIN FUEL, THE PILOT OF CE-152, N94540, MADE SUCCESSFUL FORCED LANDING IN FARMER'S FIELD DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION. AFTER OBTAINING AVIATION FUEL AT COLUMBUS COUNTY AIRPORT, AND REFUELING, PILOT MADE UNSUCCESSFUL TAKEOFF ATTEMPT FROM FARMER'S FIELD. VIDEO OF THE EVENT SHOWS THAT IMPROPER SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF TECHNIQUES MAY HAVE BEEN USED. PILOT ABORTED TAKEOFF, BUT WHILE TRYING TO TURN AROUND, THE LEFT WING CONTACTED A TREE, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED INTO A DITCH, DAMAGING THE WING LEADING EDGE AND PROP DOME.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
