## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRMAN DEPARTED JBR ON AN IFR PERSONAL FLIGHT TO HZR WITH 4 PASSENGERS. PILOT CANCELED IFR N OF THE AIRPORT AND RADAR PLOTS SHOW AN ENTRY AND COMPLETION OF A LEFT TRAFFIC PATTERN AND APPROACH TO THE AIRPORT. THE SAME RADAR PLOTS WERE REVIEWED AND ACCURACY DETERMINED TO BE LATERALLY +/- 100 FEET BY THE NTSB IN WASHINGTON DC. THE TRACK OF THE AIRCRAFT DOES NOT INDICATE THE AIRCRAFT WAS ALIGNED WITH THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE AFTER TURNING FINAL AND TO THE POINT OF LAST RADAR TARGET PLOT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS OBSERVED PULLING INTO A NOSE HIGH AND SUBSEQUENT LEFT BANK, FOLLOWED BY STRIKING THE GROUND AND BURSTING INTO FLAMES WITH THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT IN THE VERTICAL POSITION (A/C LONGITUDINAL AXIS 90 DEGREES TO THE HORIZON). REVIEW OF THE WRECKAGE INDICATE A NEAR VERTICAL IMPACT SUBSTANIATING THESE WITNESSES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05FA170](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05FA170), Jun 24, 2005: Beech E90 (N62BL), New Roads, LA, destroyed, 5 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed and subsequent loss of control during a go-around maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
