## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS LOW ON FUEL AND WAS RETURNING TO MOUNTAIN HOME MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (U76) FROM AN AERIAL APPLICATION JOB IN THE GRANDVIEW, IDAHO AREA WHEN FUEL STARVATION FORCED THE PILOT TO MAKE AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING ONE MILE SOUTHWEST OF U76 ON AIRBASE ROAD. DURING THE EASTBOUND LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A GRAVEL TRUCK TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SPUN AROUND AND WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD. THE COLLISION WITH THE GRAVEL TRUCK CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, AND THE RIGHT WING TIP AND LEADING EDGE. WHEN THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE ROAD, THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO DAMAGE TO PROPERTY ON THE GROUND. THE PILOT ADMITTED THAT HE THOUGHT THAT HE HAD MORE FUEL ON BOARD THAN HE ACTUALLY HAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA126](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA126), Jun 24, 2005: Rockwell S-2R (N4865X), Mountain Home, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate in-flight decision by failing to refuel resulting in fuel exhaustion during cruise flight and the loss of engine power. A vehicle was a factor in the on ground collision.
