## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MIDWEST AERONAUTICAL TRAINING, INC. WAS HIRED BY A PROFESSIONAL PHOTGRAPHER TO PROVIDE A PLATFORM FOR AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY OF BOATS FOR A COMMERCIAL MAGAZINE. WHILE PHOTOGRAPHING THESE FAST-MOVING BOATS, THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED TO TAKE CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPHS. DURING A TURN, THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE WATER'S SURFACE AND SANK IN 60 TO 70 FEET OF WATER. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE SLIGHTLY INJURED. THEY WERE PICKED UP FROM THE WATER BY BOATERS IN THE AREA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05CA159](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05CA159), Jun 25, 2005: Robinson R22 Beta (N7195L), Osage Beach, MO, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot not maintaining clearance from the water while maneuvering for photographs.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
