## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PASSENGER WHO IS A LONG EZ OWNER EXPLAINED THAT FOLLOWING A FLIGHT TO CALDWELL, ID THEY WERE RETURNING TO SUNRISE SKYPARK. WHILE ON FINAL AT APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 FEET ABOVE RUNWAY 30 THE AIRCRAFT STALLED. THIS RESULTED IN A RAPID DROP CAUSING A LARGE BOUNCE AND DUE TO THE RIGHT QUARTERING CROSSWIND THE PLANE WENT OFF THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT ADDED POWER ATTEMPTING A GO-AROUND, HOWEVER THE MAIN GEAR STRUCK THE SHALLOW EMBANKMENT OF A RUNWAY EXIT TAXIWAY, WHICH CAUSED THE GEAR TO DEPART THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED NOSE FIRST ON ITS BELLY UNTIL STRIKING THE NEXT RUNWAY EXIT TAXIWAY, WHICH CAUSED MASSIVE DESTRUCTION TO THE FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT, RESULTING IN FATAL INJURIES TO THE PILOT OCCUPYING THE FORWARD SEAT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA134](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA134), Jun 28, 2005: Jones Long EZ (N58LD), Marsing, ID, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed during landing, and his subsequent delay in attempting a recovery from a bounced landing. A contributing factor was the taxiway berm.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
