## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 3, 2005 A PZL-104 WILGA AIRPLANE, N2245T, PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ NOSED OVER UPON LANDING ON A BEACH AT CAPE PIERCE, ALASKA. THERE WERE TWO PASSENGERS ON BOARD AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED BY THE PILOT. THE ENGINE SUFFERED SUDDEN STOPPAGE WHEN THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE SAND AND A PROPELLER BLADE WAS BROKEN OFF DURING THE INCIDENT. THE PILOT HAD A REPLACEMENT BLADE FLOWN OUT TO HIM IN ANOTHER AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT REMOVED THE BROKEN BLADE AND INSTALLED THE NEW BLADE THEN RAN THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES THEN DEPARTED THE BEACH. THE PILOT MADE A RIGHT TURNOUT AFTER DEPARTURE OVER THE WATER AND THE ENGINE QUIT APPROXIMATELY 50-75 FEET ABOVE THE WATER. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN THE WATER AND FLIPPED OVER. THE PILOT, SOLE OCCUPANT IN THE AIRCRAFT, GOT OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT IN ABOUT 4 FEET OF WATER AND WENT TO SHORE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC05LA100](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC05LA100), Jul 4, 2005: PZL Warzawa-Okecie 104 Wilga 80 (N2245T), Platinum, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power for an undetermined reason during takeoff initial climb from a remote beach, which resulted in a ditching and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
