## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 3, 2005 AT 1615 PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 32 AT THE KAMIAH, IDAHO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. DURING TAXI HE NOTED HE HAD ABOUT 10 GALLONS OF FUEL. DURING TAXI AND RUNUP HE HAD SELECTED THE RIGHT FUEL TANK. THE MANUAL REQUIRES THAT TAKEOFF AND LANDINGS BE DONE ON THE LEFT FUEL TANK TO PREVENT FUEL STARVATION. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DAT^ STATED THAT HE FORGOT TO CHANGE THE FUEL SELECTOR TO THE LEFT TANK PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. DURING DEPARTURE HE PERFORMED A MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE CLIMB THAT RESULTED IN AN ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. DURING THE SUBSEQUENT LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND CAME TO REST UP ON THE AIRCRAFT'S NOSE AND LEFT WING.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
