## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DOES NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING AFTER TAKEOFF AT SKY MANOR (N40). A PILOT AT SKY MANOR AIRPORT (N40) SAW THE AIRCRAFT TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 7 AND THE RIGHT WING TIP STRIKE THE RUNWAY, AND THE CANOPY APPEARED TO OPEN AND THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO GRAB IT WITH ONE HAND. THE AIRCRAFT THEN DEPARTED AND TURNED TO THE LEFT TO CLEAR POWER LINES. THE PILOT THEN ATTEMPTED TO TURN BACK TO THE AIRPORT AND STRUCK THE POWER LINES AND CRASHED INTO A NURSERY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC05LA113](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC05LA113), Jul 4, 2005: Meyer Atlantis (N98Y), Pittstown, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from power lines, while returning to the airport after takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
