## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 5, 2005, AT 0730 CDT, N3211R, AN AYRES S2R COLLIDED WITH POWERLINE WIRES APPROXIMATELY 10 SOUTH OF BRISTOL, SD. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO IMPACT THE GROUND IN AN INVERTED POSITION FATALLY INJURING THE PILOT AND DESTROYING THE AIRCRAFT. (NOTE, THE AIRMAN AND AIRCRAFT TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE DUE TO MISSING LOGBOOK AND HOBBS METER).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05LA164](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05LA164), Jul 5, 2005: Rockwell S-2R (N3211R), Bristol, SD, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance with the static lines between the transmission towers. A factor associated with the accident were the static lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
