## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT ON A PART 91 FLIGHT FROM MCCARTY BAY TO MERRILL FIELD, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE WAS EXPERIENCING CARBURETOR ICING. HE WOULD CLEAR THIS WITH CARB HEAT. AT ONE POINT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND THE CARB HEAT DID NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING. PILOT ELECTED TO MAKE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT THE SOUTH GASLINE STRIP. HE SAID HE OVERFLEW THE AIRPORT, AND LANDED INTO THE WIND. ON SHORT FINAL, ABOUT 50 FEET FROM THE GROUND, PILOT SAID THE WINDS WERE GUSTY, THE AIRCRAFT DESCENDED ABRUPTLY, AND THE LEFT WING CAUGHT THE BRUSH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE APPROACH COURSE. THE AIRCRAFT THEN GROUNDLOOPED TO THE RIGHT, DAMAGING THE RIGHT WING AND AILERON. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT, THE ONLY SOUL ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT.
