## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 6, 2005, AT 1209 EDT, A WAGNER KITFOX II AIRCRAFT, N16AF, OPERATED BY THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ , CONTACTED THE GROUND DURING TAKEOFF AFTER CLIMBING TO ABOUT 30 FEET IN THE AIR. THE AIRCRAFT TURNED RIGHT, NOSED DOWN AND THE NOSE AND THE RIGHT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AT THE SAME TIME. THE PILOT WAS THE ONE PERSON ON BOARD AND SUFFERED MINOR CUTS ON HIS NECK AND MOUTH AND BRUISES ON HIS LEFT ARM. HE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS OUTBOARD, INCLUDING THE WING SPARS, WING STRUTS AND THE LEFT FUSELAGE TUBING AFT OF THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR. BOTH SIDES OF THE LANDING GEAR WERE DAMAGED. THE WOODEN THREE-BLADED PROPELLER WAS DESTROYED UPON IMPACT WITH THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC05CA115](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC05CA115), Jul 6, 2005: Wagner Kitfox II (N16AF), Albion, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of airplane control after inadvertently taking off while conducting high-speed taxi runs. A factor related to the accident was the pilot's lack of experience in the airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
