## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT TAXIED OFF OF THE ACTIVE RUNWAY, AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. THE CAUSE OF THE GEAR COLLAPSE WAS THE LANDING GEAR JACKSCREW HAD BROKEN. THIS JACKSCREW MOVES THE LANDING GEAR UP AND DOWN. A PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE RIGHT SEAT, HE WAS NOT FLYING THE AIRCRAFT. HE IS THE MECHANIC ON THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS RIDING ALONG FOR AN OBSERVATION FLIGHT. FROM BLOCK #21-D AND 21-E: THIS IS THE ORIGINAL STRUT ON THE AIRCRAFT, AS THIS PART IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM ANY COMMERCIAL SOURCE, IT IS BEING MANUFACTURED IN A MACHINE SHOP USING THE PATTERN FROM THE LEFT HAND GEAR STRUT TO MAKE THE ONE FOR THE RIGHT HAND GEAR STRUT. BOTH GEAR STRUTS ARE BEING MANUFACTURED AND INSTALLED ON THE AIRCRAFT AS A PRECAUTION, IN CASE OF A WEAKNESS IN THE OTHER STRUT. THERE WAS NO M OR D REPORT FILED DUE TO THE FACT THIS IS THE ONLY FLYING AIRCRAFT OF ITS KIND IN THE USA, AND POSSIBLY THE WORLD. ALSO THERE IS NO PART # AVAILABLE FOR THE GEAR STRUT, IT HAS TO BE RE-MANUFACTURED IN A MACHINE SHOP, THEN BE FAA APPROVED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
