## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT. YAK 3U R2000. HEVER, UT, JULY 9, 2005. THE PILOT STATED THAT ON ENTERING THE AIRPORT LANDING PATTERN, IN A 45 DEGREE BANK, THE ENGINE STOPPED MAKING POWER. HE ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE SURGED, FLIPPED THE AIRCRAFT UPSIDE DOWN. HE GOT THE AIRCRAFT UNDER CONTROL, UPRIGHT, AND TRIED TO GET TO THE AIRFIELD. HE FELT THAT HE COULD NOT MAKE THE RUNWAY WITHOUT ENDANGERING AIRCRAFT AND PEOPLE IN THE AREA, SO HE PUT THE AIRCRAFT ON THE GROUND, GEAR UP. THE AIRCRAFT HAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.
