## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER DEPARTURE FROM MIDDLEBURY, VT AIRPORT, THE PILOT OF THE HOMEBUILT AIRCRAFT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED A POWER LOSS AND THE AIRCRAFT STARTED TO LOSE AIRSPEED AND ALTITUDE. PILOT TURNED AIRCRAFT TO ONLY OPEN AREA HE COULD FIND. PILOT MANEUVERED AIRCRAFT AROUND A HOUSE AND IMPACTED THE GROUND BEHIND THE HOUSE HITTING A CHILDRENS SWINGSET, FLIPPED OVER AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN. AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR PERSONS ON THE GROUND. INVESTIGATION OF ENGINE AT SCENE DID NOT REVEAL ANY REASONS FOR POWER LOSS. DUE TO THE POSITION OF AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE, A GOOD ASSESSMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE COULD NOT BE MADE. ENGINE TEARDOWN WOULD BE NECESSARY TO PROCEED FURTHER.
