## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT SAID THAT WHILE CRUISING AT 1000' HE FELT A "DE-TORQUE" OR THE FEELING OF A SPARK PLUG MISFIRING. THEN THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND HE LANDED IN THE WOODED AREA EAST OF U.S. HWY 1. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THE TEMPERATURE 95 DEGREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA05LA136](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA05LA136), Jul 24, 2005: Brantly Helicopter B2B (N9023M), Ft. Pierce, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight planning/preparation, and failure to refuel the helicopter prior to takeoff which resulted in fuel exhaustion and a loss of engine power during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
