## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 24, 2005 CESSNA 402C, REGISTRATION NUMBER N528FA EXPERIENCED HYDRAULIC MIST IN THE COCKPIT SHORTLY AFTER TAKE OFF FROM ROCK SOUND ISLAND, BAHAMAS. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR BUT DID NOT GET THE GEAR SAFE LIGHTS, THEREFORE HE USED THE ACCUMULATOR TO BLOW THE GEAR DOWN. HE RETURNED TO ROCK ISLAND AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT AND DEPLANED THE PASSENGERS WITHOUT INCIDENT. MECHANICS WERE DISPATCHED THE NEXT DAY AND DISCOVERED THAT THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR SIGHT GAUGE HAD RUPTURED. THE SIGHT GAUGE WAS REPLACED, THE RESERVOIR WAS SERVICED AND LEAK CHECKED. A FERRY PERMIT WAS APPLIED FOR DUE TO THE EMPTY ACCUMULATOR AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS FLOWN BACK TO FORT LAUDERDALE. A SERVICE DIFFICULTY REPORT WAS SUBMITTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
