(-23) CESSNA 402C, S/N 402C0259 EXPERIENCED AN R/H ENGINE FIRE WHILE RE-STARTING THE ENGINE AFTER IT CUT OFF DURING TAXI FOR DEPARTURE FROM ROCK SOUND ISLAND, BAHAMAS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SHUT DOWN AND THE PASSENGERS DEPLANED AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH A PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE RETURN FUEL LINE TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS LOOSE. AS OF OCTOBER 06, 2005 THE AIRCRAFT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND REMAINS AT ROCK SOUND, BAHAMAS. A LETTER OF INVESTIGATION IS TO BE SENT TO THE OPERATOR REGARDING THE AIRCRAFT BEING RETURNED TO SERVICE WITH A LOOSE FUEL LINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
