## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRMAN SELECTED AN UNSUITABLE LANDING SITE WHICH CONTAINED AN OBSTRUCTION (A DEAD TREE). WHEN HE DETECTED THE TREE HE ALTERED HIS APPROACH PATH SLIGHTLY AND CONTINUED THE APPROACH UNTIL THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES CONTACTED THE TREE CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH ROTOR BLADES. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AND NOTING THE DAMAGE THE PILOT THEN ELECTED TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT BACK TO THE LODGE 5 MILES AWAY STATING THAT WHERE HE SHUT DOWN WAS SWAMPY AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS SLOWLY SINKING INTO THE MUCK. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITT^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
