## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) TOOK OFF FROM HIS PRIVATELY OWNED MISSION LODGE STRIP TO CONDUCT A LOCAL FLIGHT. A LEFT 8 KT CROSSWIND PREVAILED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER BREAKING GROUND, THE PIC REALIZED HE WAS NOT ADEQUATELY CONTROLLING THE DOWNWIND DRIFT AND WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO AVOID IMPACTING THE ALDER TREES, WHICH BOUNDED THE RUNWAY. SUBSEQUENTLY THE PIC ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING TOUCH DOWN, THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED ITS DOWNWIND DRIFT AND STRUCK THE TREES. AS A RESULT THE AIRPLANE WAS ROTATED APPROXIMATELY 100 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND STOPPED.
