## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT START OF LESSON, STUDENT BROUGHT THE HELICOPTER TO A FOUR FOOT HOVER INTO THE WIND. AS THE STUDENT BEGAN TO MOVE THE HELICOPTER TO THE LEFT, THE INSTRUCTOR LOOKED BEHIND AND TO THE LEFT TO ENSURE THE TAXIWAY WAS CLEAR. THE HELICOPTER DESCENDED AND THE LEFT SKID CAUGHT IN THE ASPHALT RAMP, CREATING A DYNAMIC ROLLOVER ON THE LEFT SKID. THE HELICOPTER TURNED OVER ON ITS LEFT SIDE CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05CA195](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05CA195), Jul 30, 2005: Robinson R22 Beta II (N18VH), New Braunfels, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain control of the helicopter and delayed remedial action by the flight instructor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
