## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS BEING USED TO TOW A BANNER OVER A BIRTHDAY PARTY. ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH, BANNER WAS DROPPED AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY ON STATE HIGHWAY NUMBER 1431. PILOT STATED THAT HE CHECKED THE MAGS IN FLIGHT AND THE ENGINE QUIT COMPLETELY WHEN THE RIGHT MAG WAS SELECTED. ENGINE RE-START AFTER LANDING COULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED DUE TO ROUGH/UNEVEN TERRAIN. WINGS WERE REMOVED AND AIRCRAFT WAS TAKEN TO SPICEWOOD AIRPORT. ON AUGUST 11, 2005, THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND RAN ROUGH ON THE RIGHT MAG. RIGHT MAG WAS TESTED BY NAVAJO ACCESSORIES, INC. TEST INDICATED THAT MAGNETO FAILED UPON REACHING 185 DEGREES F.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
