## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CLIMB AT APPROXIMATELY 700 FEET AGL, FLAMES WERE NOTICED COMING FROM THE MANIFOLD WHERE THE THREE PROPANE LINES CONNECT TO THE BURNER. ATTEMPTS TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE FAILED AFTER ALL THREE PROPANE TANKS WERE SHUT OFF. THE BALLOON DESCENDED, STRIKING POWER LINES PRIOR TO GROUND IMPACT. THE BALLOON ENVELOPE REMAINED ENTANGLED IN THE POWER LINES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05CA209](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05CA209), Aug 2, 2005: National Ballooning 751-12 (N3219T), Indianola, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The in-flight fire due to the loose fuel line connection as a result of the pilot's inadequate preflight. A factor was the power lines.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
