## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER TAKEOFF FROM PWK, AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED LEFT ENGINE FAILURE. PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 34. BEFORE TOUCH DOWN THE AIRCRAFT WENT INTO GROUND-EFFECT AND BALLOONED UP. IMMEDIATELY ANOTHER ATTEMPT WAS MADE AND THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED AGAIN. THE PILOT THEN APPLIED POWER AND ATTEMPTED TO DO A GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT INITIALLY GAINED ALTITUDE BUT THEN SETTLED AND EVENTUALLY SANK AND HIT THE ROOF OF A BUILDING IN AN INDUSTRIAL AREA. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE FROM THE END OF THE RUNWAY ON TOP OF A BERM AFTER HITTING SEVERAL SMALL PINE TREES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED ON IMPACT. THERE WAS NO POST ACCIDENT FIRE AND BOTH THE PILOT AND ONE PASSENGER EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT WITH ONLY MINOR INJURIES.
