## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF DURING AN APPROACHING SQUALL LINE. WINDS WERE GUSTING ABOVE 30 KNOTS ACROSS THE RUNWAY. SOON AFTER LIFT-OFF THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A LEFT TURN, LOST CONTROL, AND ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO CONTACT THE GROUND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLIMB. IMPACT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO SHEAR THE LANDING GEAR AND CAUSE THE AIRCRAFT TO TUMBLE AND BREAK APART.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL05CA138](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL05CA138), Aug 6, 2005: Beech C24R (N67076), Lumberton, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper/inadequate evaluation of the weather, which resulted into flight into a thunderstorm.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
