## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS ON HIS FIRST FLIGHT IN THIS AIRCRAFT AFTER ENGINE CHANGE AND EXPERIMENTAL CERTIFICATION. THE ENGINE QUIT PRODUCING POWER AT ABOUT 100 FEET. HE STATED THAT HE DID NOT WANT TO LAND IN HOUSING AREA AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE THEN REVERSED THE DIRECTION OF FLIGHT BY APPLYING FULL LEFT RUDDER. HIS FIRST IMPACT WAS ON THE ROOF OF A HOUSE. HE ALSO HIT AN OUT BUILDING AND A TREE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. HE SUFFERED A BROKEN PELVIS AND BACK. HE HAD FLOWN THIS AIRCRAFT AS AN ULTRALIGHT WITH A SMALLER ENGINE. IT HAD BEEN CONVERTED TO A LARGER ENGINE AND CERTIFICATED AS AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA177](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA177), Aug 20, 2005: Tichacek N-3 Pup (N7702X), Mead, WA, destroyed. Probable cause: The total loss of engine power for undetermined reasons. A factor was the lack of suitable terrain for a forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
