## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THREE (3) WITNESSES OBSERVED AIRCRAFT PERFORM ROLL MANEUVER AFTER TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 27 AT MENOMONIE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT - SCORE FIELD (KLUM). AIRCRAFT DESCENDED AND IMPACTED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE WEST AND 300-400 FEET NORTH OF THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE AND WAS DESTROYED ON IMPACT. THE PILOT AND SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE 3 PASSENGERS HAD EARLIER BEEN GIVEN LOCAL SIGHTSEEING FLIGHTS BY THE PILOT. STATEMENTS AND VIDEO TAKEN BY WITNESSES DID NOT INDICATE ANY PRE-EXISTING PROBLEMS WITH THE PILOT OR THE AIRPLANE PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI05LA237](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI05LA237), Aug 21, 2005: Kircher RV-8 (N505DF), Menomonie, WI, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to perform an aerobatic roll during takeoff, the low altitude, and his failure to maintain clearance from the crops and terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
