## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING STUDENT TRAINING IN AUTOROTATION MANUEVERS THE STUDENT LET THE RPM GO LOW DURING THE APPROACH. THE INSTRUCTOR ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION BUT MET RESISTANCE FROM THE STUDENT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD AND SKIDS COLLAPSED. THE HELICOPTER SLID FOR OVER 150 FEET BUT STAYED UPRIGHT. THE SEAT PANS WERE TOTALLY FLEXED DOWNWARD IN THE FRAME AND THE STRUCTURE OF THE HELICOPTER WAS BENT AND BROKEN.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05CA182](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05CA182), Aug 27, 2005: Robinson R22 Beta (N845SH), Boise, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: Inadequate communications between the certified flight instructor and student pilot, and the student pilot's delay in relinquishing controls resulting in a hard landing during a practice autorotation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
