## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER CONDUCTING AN INITIAL CLEARING TURN, A STALL WAS CONDUCTED WITH A NORMAL RECOVERY. AFTER A DISCUSSION OF AIRSPEEDS WITH THE PASSENGER, ANOTHER STALL WAS INITIATED AT APPROXIMATELY 2,500 FEET, A LEFT TURN WITH A 15 TO 20 DEGREES OF BANK. THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AT 40 KNOTS AND THE NOSE AND LEFT WING DROPPED. A NORMAL STALL RECOVERY PROCEDURES FAILED TO LIFT THE WING. THE AIRCRAFT HAD ENTERED A LEFT SPIN. THE PILOT INITIATED SPIN RECOVERY PROCEDURES, WITH STICK FULL FORWARD AND FULL RIGHT RUDDER. AFTER SEVERAL TURNS, AGGRESSIVE CONTROLS INPUTS WERE MADE WITHOUT EFFECT. THE AIRCRAFT THEN IMPACTED IN A WATER FILLED FISH POND AT THE WEST END OF THE DILLINGHAM AIRFIELD AND SANK IN 40 FEET OF WATER. THE PILOT AND PASSENGERS SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05CA284](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05CA284), Sep 1, 2005: Schweizer SGS-2-32 (N414LF), Waialua, HI, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadvertent spin entry while practicing a stall maneuver and his failure to regain control of the glider before impacting a lake.

## Other reports on N414LF (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19890819030489A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890819030489A), Aug 19, 1989: Scwzer SGS232 (N414LF), Plymouth, CT, Substantial damage. High sink on final. Collided with trees short off runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
