## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER FLYING LOCALLY (E25) FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE (1) HOUR, THE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER LANDED AND TOPPED OFF THE FUEL TANK. THE PILOT TAXIED TO RUNWAY 23 FOR TAKEOFF. DURING THE TAKE OFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT ATTAINED APPROXIMATELY SEVENTY (70) MPH. HOWEVER, THE NOSE GEAR HAD NOT YET BECOME "LIGHT" SO THE PILOT PULLED BACK ON THE CYCLIC STICK AND THE AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY "JUMPED" OFF THE GROUND. SINCE THE PILOT WAS AWARE THAT HE WAS BEHING THE POWER CURVE, HE APPLIED FULL POWER, AND PUSHED THE CYCLIC STICK FORWARD TO REGAIN FORWARD AIRSPEED. THIS DID NOT OCCUR AND THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED TO THE GROUND. THE PILOT THEN APPLIED AFT CYCLIC CONTROL SO AS NOT TO LAND ON ONLY THE NOSEWHEEL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN LOST ROTOR SPEED (NR) AND FORWARD AIRSPEED RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED HARD, ROLLED OVER, AND CAME TO REST.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05CA295](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05CA295), Sep 11, 2005: Ricardo Lopez RAF 2000 Gtxse (N282SL), Wickenburg, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to obtain and maintain an adequate airspeed and rotor speed during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
