## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF TO THE SOUTH AT 15:45 LCL MDT. WIND WAS VARIABLE AND GUSTY AT THE TIME OF DEPARTURE. EYEWITNESSES SAW THE AIRCRAFT BECOME AIRBORNE AND BEGIN TO CLIMB, THEN, TO DESCEND RAPIDLY AT APPROXIMATELY MID FIELD. THE PILOT ELECTED TO ABORT THE CLIMB AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN THE REMAINING RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND VERY HARD IN A LEVEL FLIGHT ATTITUDE RESULTING IN EXTENSIVE AIRFRAME DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SLIDE TO THE SOUTHEAST EDGE OF THE AIRFIELD BEFORE COMING TO REST. THE OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED, AND, NO POST CRASH FIRE OCCURRED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA05LA194](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA05LA194), Sep 15, 2005: Cessna 182P (N58717), Yellow Pine, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper preflight planning/preparation during takeoff. A factor was the windshear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
