## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT RAN OUT OF FUEL, AND FORCED LANDED WITH THE ENGINE NOT OPERATING AT THE PETALUMA AIRPORT, PETALUMA, CA. AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND WENT OFF THE RUNWAY, THRU A FENCE AND CAME TO REST ON A GOLF COURSE. THE RIGHT WING WAS TORN OFF THE AIRCRAFT. BOTH PILOTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX05CA301](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX05CA301), Sep 17, 2005: Piper PA 28-181 (N8103X), Petaluma, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: a loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

## Other reports on N8103X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19821029063119I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19821029063119I), Oct 29, 1982: Piper PA28181 (N8103X), San Jose, CA, Minor damage. Unable to stop on runway. Failed to go around. Ran off end of runway. Struck runway sign.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
