## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING FINAL APPROACH PHASE OF FLIGHT TO RUNWAY 26 AIRCRAFT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED FOLLOWING ACTIVATION OF THE AIRCRAFT ELECTRICAL FUEL PUMPS. PILOT REPORTED THAT THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE DISABLED THE AIRCRAFT ELECTRIC FLAPS, ELECTRONIC IGNITION, AND ELECTRICAL PROPELLER PITCH. THIS RESULTED IN A HIGH APPROACH SPEED OF ABOUT 100 TO 110 KNOTS WITH NO MEANS FOR THE PILOT TO CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT SPEED AND NO ENGINE POWER TO ABORT THE LANDING. PILOT DETERMINED THAT DUE TO THE AIRCRAFT SPEED THERE WAS INADEQUATE STOPPING DISTANCE FOR THE AIRCRAFT TO SAFELY LAND AND OPTED TO ABORT LANDING AT APPROXIMATELY MID FIELD TURNING AND CLIMBING TO THE LEFT OVER AN ADJACENT VINEYARD. PILOT THEN TURNED LEFT AND LANDED AIRCRAFT ON AN 8 FOOT WIDE VINEYARD ROW THAT RAN PARALLEL TO THE AIRPORT RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
