## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT WAS ON A SOLO FLIGHT AND AFTER LANDING AND DURING ROLLOUT, ENGINE FAILED. STUDENT ROLLED OFF RUNWAY AND ATTEMPTED ENGINE RESTART, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ENGINE FIRE. STUDENT PERFORMED CHECKLIST PROCEDURES WITHOUT SUCCESS, THEN USED FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO EXTINGUISH FIRE. ASSISTANCE ARRIVED TO AID WITH FIRE. POST INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE TO CARBURETOR, ALTERNATOR, BAFFLING, AND SOME HOSES. CARBURETOR HAD BEEN REPLACED ON 9/17/2005. AIRWORTHINESS ISSUE REFERRED TO PMI.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
