## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS MISHAP PILOT WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS WITHIN THE AIRPORT TRAFFIC AT THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS AIRPORT, KSUS, CHESTERFIELD, MO FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING HIS LANDING CURRENCY. DURING THE LAST APPROACH, THE TOWER REQUESTED THAT HE KEEP HIS SPEED UP DUE TO INBOUND TRAFFIC. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT HE "GOT BEHIND" AND FOUND HIMSELF GOING TOO FAST TO EXTEND THE GEAR AT THE NORMAL PLACE. AT APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET ABOVE GROUND HE STATED HE BEGAN TO EXTEND THE GEAR BUT IT WAS TAKING TOO LONG AND HE DIDN'T BELIEVE HE COULD INITIATE A GO-AROUND. HE CONSEQUENTLY LANDED GEAR UP. AN OPERATIONAL CHECK OF THE AIRCRAFT'S LANDING GEAR SYSTEM FAILED TO REVEAL ANY MALFUNCTIONS THAT WOULD HAVE PRECLUDED THE GEAR FROM EXTENDING OR FROM ADVISING HIM THAT IT WAS NOT DOWN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
