## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE BALLOON WAS LANDING IN A GRASSY AREA OF THE AIRPORT, NEAR OTHER BALLOONS. AS THE BALLOON TOUCHED DOWN, A GROUND CREWMEMBER OF ANOTHER BALLOON RAN OVER AND GRABBED THE BASKET IN AN ATTEMPT TO HOLD IT DOWN AND ASSIST THE LANDING. THE BALLOON ROSE AGAIN, WITH THE GROUND CREWMEMBER CLINGING TO THE BALLOON. WHEN THE GROUND CREWMEMBER WAS ABOUT EIGHT FEET ABOVE THE GROUND SHE LOST HER GRIP AND FELL, LANDING ON HER LEFT HIP AND LEFT HAND. THE BALLOON THEN LANDED NEARBY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE GROUND CREWMEMBER SUFFERED FRACTURES OF TWO BONES IN HER LEFT WRIST, AND THREE HAIRLINE FRACTURES IN HER PELVIS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD05CA141](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD05CA141), Sep 24, 2005: Lindstrand Balloons 77A (N4024P), Louisville, KY, no damage. Probable cause: The ground crewman's failure to release the basket of the balloon when it resumed flight during the landing phase. A factor in the accident was the wet grass at the landing site.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
