## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA ^ RENTED THE AIRPLANE FOR A PERSONAL FLIGHT FROM ALPHA ONE FLIGHT SCHOOL AT THE PLYMOUTH AIRPORT. WHILE MANEUVERING TO LAND AT PLYMOUTH SHE DETERMINED THAT SHE WAS TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER AIRPLANE AND ELECTED TO GO AROUND AND MAKE ANOTHER TRAFFIC PATTERN. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO REDUCE POWER FOR LANDING THE THROTTLE LEVER MOVED FREELY, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE REMAINED AT FULL POWER. SHE CIRCLED THE AIRPORT AND EVENTUALLY FLEW TO OTIS ANGB (FMH), EIGHTEEN MILES TO THE SOUTHEAST. A MA STATE POLICE AIRWING HELICOPTER RENDERED FLIGHT ASSISTANCE BY OBTAINING FREQUENCIES AND ESCORTING N8285B TO OTIS ANGB. THE LANDING AT OTIS AFB WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY USING THE MIXTURE CONTROL TO CONTROL ENGINE POWER. THE LANDING WAS UNEVENTFUL. THE THROTTLE CABLE HAD BROKEN IN FLIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
